Gingival Recontouring
Your smile is one of the first things others notice about you. If you feel your smile is not what it could be, the team at Dental Health Associates can help.
Gummy Smile or Uneven Gum Line
"My gums show too much when I smile or talk."
If you feel that one of those descriptions matches your smile, crown lengthening and/or gingivoplasty might be the solution for you! During this procedure, your DHA periodontist will remove excess gum tissue to expose more of the crown of the tooth. Then your gum line is sculpted to give your new smile a more uniform look.
Long Teeth/Exposed Roots
"My teeth seem too long. I think they make me look old."
Sometimes gum recession causes a tooth root to become exposed, which makes your teeth look long and can make you look older than you are. Whether caused by tooth brushing, abnormal mouth habits, or periodontal disease, exposed roots are sensitive to temperatures and touching, are more prone to toothbrush abrasion, and the root surface is more prone to cavities. Soft tissue grafts and other root coverage procedures will cover your teeth's exposed roots, reduce further gum recession and protect your teeth's vulnerable roots from decay.
Indentations in the Gums and Jawbone
"My gums don't seem snug against my replacement teeth anymore."
When you lose teeth, your jawbone recedes where the teeth once were, which can lead to indentations and shrinkage. Not only is this indention unnatural looking, it also causes your replacement teeth to look too long compared to the adjacent teeth. Ridge augmentation can fill in this defect by recapturing the natural contour of the gums and jaw. A dental implant in the augmented bone helps keep the bone from receding all over again. With new, natural-looking teeth that are easy to clean, your smile will be as beautiful as it ever was.
