Pediatric Dentistry
At Dental Health Associates, we understand that each child is unique. Your DHA dentist will go to great lengths to understand the needs of your child and offer appropriate dental care.
The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that all children visit a dentist by 12 months of age or within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth. During these first visits with your child, your dentist will:
- get to know you and your child
- initiate care to prevent or mitigate common pediatric oral diseases and conditions
- provide you with information to prevent dental disease
- begin fluoride treatment for your child as needed
- identify any special risks your child may have for dental problems and begin planniing a preventive program for your child
Your DHA team is dedicated to helping your child prevent of oral injuries and learn healthy oral habits. Your DHA dentist will work hard to enhance your child’s opportunity for a lifetime free from preventable oral disease.

Pediatric Dentistry FAQs
When should I bring my baby to the dentist?
Visit your DHA dentist around your baby’s first birthday. With the help of our staff, you will learn how to protect your infant’s beautiful first smiles and promote your child’s life-long dental health.
What should I use to clean my baby's teeth?
When your child’s teeth begin to erupt, brush them gently with a child's size toothbrush and water. Toothpaste should only be used for children two years and older. For children who are two, a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste should be used, but ensure that the child spits out the toothpaste rather than swallowing it.
How often should my child see the dentist?
Children, like adults, should visit the dentist every six months. For some children, interim visits may be suggested more frequently to build up a comfort and confidence level or to treat any developing problems.
