New Patient FAQs

Your time is valuable. Being prepared for your first visit at Dental Health Associates ensures your appointment runs smoothly and you are seen on time.

  1. Fill out your new patient forms in advance. Not only does this save you time at our office but, it also allows us to enter your information in our system quickly, often before you even arrive. Completing your forms early also allow us to catch questions or concerns.
  2. By providing your insurance information a few days prior to your appointment, we are able to gain early and easy access to communicate with your carrier. Please be sure to bring your insurance card with you to your first appointment.
  3. About a week or two prior to your first appointment, contact your previous dental office to ensure your records have been transferred. You may be required to request your forms in writing.
  4. Arrive a few minutes early. We do our best to keep appointments on time. This will allow us to address any additional or last minute questions or concerns.

At your first visit, we will review your new patient forms carefully to ensure we have everything we need. Your assigned provider will have access to the records from your previous dentist. You will be seated in a room where you and your provider will review your health history, medications, and any dental concerns and goals you may have.

Once your hygienist has you seated comfortably, a thorough examination of your teeth and gums will begin, which includes an oral cancer screening, measurements, any necessary x-rays, and cleaning away plaque and calculus on your teeth. In addition to the above, every existing restoration and any missing teeth are documented. Your dentist will review your x-rays and go over any needed treatment with you, as well as check the entirety of your mouth, neck and jaw for any signs of concern. Once your dentist and hygienist have completed your appointment, they work together to create a unique treatment plan just for you.

Upon completion of your first appointment, your next appointment will be scheduled in accordance with your treatment plan. Our staff can also refer you to our financial coordinator to help you with insurance questions and/or financial needs.

Definitely! You can view all of our doctor’s bios on our website and the clinics they work from are also listed so, you can choose someone you prefer at the location most convenient for you.
