Jim Sands, DDS

Dr. Jim Sands, is a General Dentist at our University Clinic, and brings over 17 years of comprehensive dental experience to the Shorewood Hills community.  Voted one of Madison’s top dentists since 2015, Dr. Sands is a seasoned professional dedicated to providing exceptional care.

Completing his studies with a BA in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a DDS from Creighton University School of Dentistry, Dr. Sands not only brings academic excellence to his practice but also instills a profound commitment to ongoing education. In 2013, his dedication to learning was further highlighted when he earned an Associate Fellow designation from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a recognition achieved after completing an extensive 300 credit hours of training.

Dr. Sands excels in restorative dentistry, specializing in composite fillings, crowns, and bridges. With extensive expertise in Implant Dentistry, Endodontics (root canals), and removable partials and dentures, he is dedicated to addressing complex dental issues and guiding patients back to optimal oral health.

Known for his laid-back and easy-going demeanor, Dr. Sands takes great pride in fostering an environment where patients not only receive top-notch dental care but also feel genuinely comfortable. Understanding that a visit to the dentist can be an anxiety-inducing experience for many, Dr. Sands prioritizes creating a non-judgmental atmosphere where patients can openly discuss their concerns and questions.

Dr. Sands and his wife, Katy, have three children, who keep them very busy. His personal interests include exploring new destinations, capturing moments through photography and videography, cheering on his children in various sports, indulging in skiing, embracing early morning workouts, and enjoying the freedom of biking. Dr. Sands’ adventurous spirit extends to charitable causes, evident in his decade-long involvement in cycling events for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
